GRE Prep Course Schedule -- Spring 2005

Tuesday, Feb 1: Introduction (pp. 3-6, 9-11)

Thursday, Feb 3: General Math Strategies (pp. 285-296)

Next meeting --> Tuesday, Feb 8: General Math Strategies cont.

I will briefly present some more basics with three problems similar to examples 11, 14, and 21 on pages 290, 291, and 293 in your book. But most of the meeting you will be working the problems at the end of chapter 10 and others similar to them, with as much help from me as you need and I am able to give.

If you find you need more help than I can give you during class, please let me know. If the format of the class or something I am doing doesn't seem to be the most helpful way to do things, please let me know. Allowing for the differences among everyone in the course and my own limitations, I will do my best to accommodate you.

Working through as many of the examples in chapter 10 (pp. 285-293) as you can is probably the most useful thing you could do toward this next meeting. Spending a smaller amount of time looking at the arithmetic section of the math review chapter (pp. 328-345) might also be helpful. But I think spending most of whatever time you can spend toward the next meeting working examples in chapter 10 would help you the most.

Do try to work as many of the examples as you have time to and can. The more problems you can work before you take the GRE the better. But if you run into examples you cannot work or understand, please try not to get too frustrated. The more you can determine what you need help with the more you can get from this preparation course.
